Bridges Selected to Disburse Stimulus Funds for Homeless Persons

Bridges Community Services, Inc. has been selected as the Central Point of Access for Muncie's Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program and the Region 6 Continuum of Care, which covers all of ECI .  "In the face of an economic crisis, the magnitude of which we have not seen since the Great Depression, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act represents a strategic -- and significant -- investment in our country’s future."  Funding for the one time shot in the arm was initially announced in February, by President Obama, as part of this legislation.  The program is targeted to persons, including families, who become homeless, or would be homeless were it not for this funding.   The idea is to rapidly re-house this population before they languish in the homeless shelters.  There are several qualifers and conditions that must be met in order to receive this one time, weighty, assistance.   Program details, and final allocations, for this locality are still being determined.  We do know that the Muncie area will receive $590,276.  As the Central Point of Access for the East Central Indiana Area, including Anderson, and Marion, will access a separate pot of funding $$.   Please come back to this site for more information as it is available.
